Detailed Consent Secured in Nottinghamshire for Bloor Homes’ Housing Development

Harworth Estates has sold a site adjoining the new Gedling Country Park in Nottinghamshire to Bloor Homes, one of the largest privately-owned housebuilders in the UK, after Bloor received detailed planning consent for a development of new housing.

Gedling Borough Council has granted Bloor detailed consent for the development of 150 homes on 23.5 acres of former colliery land on the eastern edge of Mapperley Plains in the village of Lambley. The consent is for 21 two-bed (all affordable for rent), 50 three-bed, 71 four-bed and 8 five-bed houses.

The site will improve access to the 240-acre Gedling Country Park, which provides open space, footpaths and wildlife for the benefit of local people.

Outline consent for the Gedling scheme was achieved by Harworth Estates in March 2015. Over the last seven years Harworth has obtained consents for more than 11,000 housing plots and 8 million sq ft of employment space across the north of England and the Midlands.

Jason Woolliscroft, Regional Managing Director at Bloor Homes Midlands, said: “We are delighted to have completed the purchase of this site next to Gedling Country Park and look forward to starting construction work in the very near future.

“Our Spring Park development will provide a range of high-quality family homes in an attractive and convenient location, just four miles from Nottingham, and will make a significant contribution to the physical and economic regeneration of the area.

“We have enjoyed working with Harworth Estates to help bring forward this exciting development and hope that we can work together on other projects in the future”.

Tim Love, Director of Harworth Estates’ Strategic Land division, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to bring to the market such a high-quality site adjacent to the new country park. A lot of hard work has gone into engineering the development platform to meet housebuilder expectations.

“We have enjoyed a huge amount of success working closely with housebuilders and local authorities to achieve planning consents that provide regeneration benefits for local communities. This is our first sale to Bloor Homes and we look forward to working with the group on other sites in the future”.

Cushman & Wakefield acted for Harworth as planning consultant.
